New Website!

Hey, our new website is coming soon. That is, it will be posted about the middle of April or so.

Look for all the artists chosen this year along with the venues where they’ll be showing their work. 

For our 4th Annual Chinatown REMIXED Art Festival, you’ll be able to see some inventive stuff from painters, sculptors, new media artists, draughtsmen (and women), not to mention installation artists. Most artists are from around Ottawa, but one does come from Montreal.

Look for unusual and diverse venues all along Somerset St. W. in which artists will be showing. There’s a jewelry store, retro home design shop, optometrist, travel agents, financial service experts, grocery stores, a gift shop, a small producer of cosmetics, restaurants, cafés, a roast duck and pork store — even a laundromat!

For GRAND OPENING DAY, May 12th, there will be much entertainment, including musicians, drummers and dancers. Lots of food, too.

Calling all street performers for Chinatown Remixed 2012

The highly anticipated 4th annual Chinatown Remixed event will take place Saturday, May 12th, 2012!  Mass art exhibition vernissages will happen on the day, from 2- 5 pm, as well as street performances of all kinds.

For this fabulous event, we are seeking street performance possibilities such as performance art, musical performances, chalk artists, juggling acts, poetry readings, sidewalk interventions, magicians, hula-hoop fun…

Chinatown Remixed: A Month Long Celebration of Art on Somerset Street West

The Chinatown Remixed collective presents its fourth annual festival! This year’s art exhibition runs from May 12 – June 12, 2012. Our grand opening mass-vernissage day runs from 2-5PM Saturday, May 12. and  features artists, performances, live music, DJs, chalk drawing, and lots of great food from our participating restaurant venues. Artists will also be on hand at their venues to answer questions and discuss their work.  

 

As always, the exhibits take place in unexpected and diverse places along the street, with original art appearing in grocery stores, restaurants, hair salons, opticians, laundromats and more. Art Walking Tour maps will be available throughout the festival route.
